DESCRIPTION
Sponsored guest accounts provide access to network resources, or application-level access for associates, consultants, contractors, or guests of Dominican University. Account or access requests require a University sponsor (head of business unit, department, faculty, administration, etc.) and granted for persons for official university business.
Sponsored guests receive the following:
- A unique Dominican University Network Account
- Access to MyAccount, self-service account management, in order to:
- Activate their Dominican Network Account
- Establish security challenge questions for forgotten password resets
- Change a known password
- Access to university systems requiring authentication, including DU Wireless and Canvas.
Separate manual enrollment as a student or instructor in specific Canvas course is required
OPTIONAL FEATURES
The following are also available to Sponsored Guests but must be specifically requested through the appropriate processes as outlined in the request process:
- Access to University e-mail and calendaring services via mail.dom.edu
- Access to a Star Card
- Access to a visitor parking permit
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
Once the request is submitted, please allow 5 to 10 business days for processing and verification. In some cases training may be required before access is granted. The following are key points to consider when making a sponsored guest request:
- Access terminates after midnight on the end date specified in the service request.
- The maximum length of time allowed for the account or access is 12 months.
- The sponsor will receive a notification thirty (30) days prior to the expiration of access to renew the account. A new request must be approved prior to the end date to avoid disruption of service.
- It is the responsibility of the sponsor to immediately submit a service request to terminate access if the account/access is no longer required prior to the specified end date.
The privacy of student and employee information is protected by University, State and Federal laws. Access granted to University resources might be protected, but not limited to the following laws or standards: Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), HIPAA, PCI DSS, GLBA. Moreover, Dominican imposes its own policies and standards regarding the safeguarding of the University assets. PRICING
There is currently no charge to use this service, unless detailed in optional services. These costs may be associated to a departmental account.

The following communities are eligible to request this service:
- Part- and Full-Time Faculty
- Part- and Full-Time Staff
AVAILABILITY
Account access for sponsored guests is available 24/7; however, time and date restrictions may be placed upon request.

SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENT (SLA)
The target delivery time for Dominican Network Accounts is within five (5) business days after all information has been submitted online and approved by the direct supervisor and Information Technology.
