How do I download Microsoft Office 365?

Active students, faculty, and staff are eligible to download Office 365 for their Windows PC or Mac free from the University. That’s right, FREE! Here’s how!

1. Login to your Domincan Email at

Note: Downloading and installing can take over an hour, please make sure you have time to finish the install, make sure you are using the computer you would like Office to install onto, and please make sure your device is connected to an outlet

2. Once your Inbox loads, click on the "Office 365" icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

3. Click on "Install Office 365"

Q – What does Office 365 include?

A - Office 365 comes with a full version of Office and familiar Office applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, OneNote and more. (Access is not available for the Mac.) Office 365 is a user-based service and allows each student to install on up to five PCs or Macs, and five tablets and access Office mobile applications on iPhone and Android phones. (Office Mobile applications are included with all Windows phones).

Q - I need to use Access, but I have a Mac. How do I get Access?

A - If you have a Mac and you need to get to MS Access, the Remote Application server is your best solution.

  1. From the Mac App Store, download and install Microsoft Remote Desktop. 
  2. Next, go to and log in using your DU network ID and password.
  3. Select the desired application form the list that appears.
  4. A small Remote Desktop file will be downloaded.
  5. Locate and double-click that file after download has completed.
  6. Remote Desktop will be launched on your computer and you will be prompted to enter your DU network ID and password.
  7. The application will now open.

Q – What happens when I graduate?

A – As long as your Dominican Student Email account is active, the licenses will be available.
