Password Protection on Zoom Recordings

Tags Zoom

As you may have noticed, Zoom “proactively” turns on the option to require a password to view recordings. You can opt-out of this if you wish.

1. To confirm that password protection is activated for your recordings, do the following:
2. Go to https://dom.zoom.us

3. Once you're logged in, go to the Recordings tab located on the left-hand side and click on the title of a recording that you wish to share.

4. When the recording’s window opens, click on the Share button.
5. Look to see if “Password Protect” is on.
From here, you can either turn password protection “off” for that recording, or, update the default password and provide it to your students.

You can roll back this change for present and future meetings:
1. While still at https://dom.zoom.us, select Recordings on the left side of the page.
2. When the page opens, click Settings in the top right corner.

3. Scroll down and locate “Require password to access shared cloud recordings”.

4. Toggle that off to opt-out.

* Please note that there is an option to require users to be authenticated/logged-in to be able to view recordings. Should you wish to have some control over who can view recordings, this is a good alternative.
