Part 1: Select Appropriate Event Template
1. Navigate to the Events section in Slate
2. Click on the Templates folder
3. Select the TEMPLATE: FY - Group Visit template
Please DO NOT create new event templates. Templates should only be created by ES&O staff. If you need a new template, please submit an ES&O ticket.
Part 2: Create New Event
1. To add a new Group Visit, select the New Events button

2. Enter the event details in the Details tab
a. Page Title: <Visiting School or Organization Name> Group Visit (e.g. DePaul College Prep Group Visit)
The Page Title is the event name that will display to students in any event email communication.
b. Internal Name: FY – Chicago Group Visit - <Visiting School or Organization Name> (e.g. FY – Chicago Group Visit - DePaul College Prep)
c. Template: It should automatically populate to TEMPLATE: FY - Group Visit
Please DO NOT change the template from the default, TEMPLATE: FY - Group Visit
d. Folder: First Year / Group Visits
e. Status:
– If event will be taking place: Confirmed/Active
– If event is not yet confirmed: Tentative
– If event has been cancelled: Cancelled
f. Recurrence: Leave Blank
g. Date: Event Date/Start time until Event Date/End Time (leave time blank if still TBD)
h. Deadline: Date/Time the registration form should close (leave blank if you don’t want a deadline)
i. Activation Date: Date/Time the registration form should go live (leave blank if it should go live when status is Confirmed/Active)
j. Time Zone: Central Time (US & Canada)
k. User: Will default to user creating the event
l. Trip: Leave Blank
m. Admin Notify Email: If someone should be notified when a student registers, input email(s). If inputting multiple emails, separate them by a comma.
n. Related Records: Leave Blank
3. No action is necessary in the Location tab. Dominican’s location information will automatically populate after the event is saved.
4. Click on Event Notes

Select under Modality/Location: On-Campus CHI OR On-Campus RF

5. For River Forest On-Campus Visits Only: Input the url for the appropriate Group Visit request in the Notes tab.
-Review the Group Visits Request form entries
-Click on the appropriate entry
-Click the Display button in the pop-up window (see screenshot below)
-Copy the url for the webpage that opened up with the visit request entry
-Paste the url in the Notes


5. Click the Save button.
