Parmer 119 and 220 Classroom Instructions

Parmer 219 serves as the Observation Chamber, while Parmer 220 is the Classroom. Both rooms are equipped with a television, ceiling speaker/microphone, and Yealink camera. However, only Parmer 220 features an Extron system and a desktop computer, which control the equipment in both spaces.

Extron Controls

  1. Powering On the System

    • Press the mode you wish to start with: Lecture Mode or Observation Mode.
    • In Lecture Mode, controls for the Observation Chamber will not appear, and only the Classroom equipment can be managed.

  1. Using a Computer or Laptop

    • Ensure the desktop computer and monitor are powered on.        
    • If using a laptop, connect it to the provided sound and video cables.    

  2. Video Routing

    • Lecture Mode:
      • Navigate to the Video Routing page to manage the TVs and input sources.
      • Select Laptop if using a personal device or PC for the provided desktop.
        • The selected source will be highlighted and routed to the display.
      • Use the Display On/Off buttons to start or stop screen sharing.   
    • Observation Mode:
      • On the Video Routing page, all of the same controls will be there, but include the display controls for the Observation Room as well.     

  3. Camera Control

    • Navigate to the Camera Control page to adjust the camera in either room.
    • Select the room you wish to modify and use the manual controls on the left side of the screen for adjustments.   

  4. Audio Control

    • Lecture Mode:
      • On the Audio Control page, adjust microphone and speaker levels:
        • Lectern Mic Slider: Controls the lectern microphone level.
        • Classroom Slider: Adjusts speaker output in the Classroom.
        • Room Mute: Mutes speaker output in the respective room.
        • Mic Mute: Mutes all microphones during a video conference call.   
      • The lectern mic will display a green light when active. If it is off, press the button at the base to turn it on.     
    • Observation Mode:
      • On the Audio Control page, all of the same controls will be there, but include the controls for the Observation Room as well.    

Zoom Instructions

SSO (Single Sign-On) will automatically sign you into the application.

  1. Start a “New Meeting”
  2. “Join” a pre-existing meeting
  3. Select the “Join” button under the Calendar if your meeting is available.

Speaker and Microphone Name: Echo Cancelling Speakerphone (Rm-200-Core)

Camera Name: Yealink UVC86

NOTE: Both cameras in Parmer 219 and 220 are labeled the same. The name can not be changed so you will have to select both to figure out which one you need. 

Powering Down

  • Select Power Down to shut down the system.
  • Choose Cancel to return to the previous screen. 
  • Ensure that you log out of the computer before leaving the room.
