VPN Information - Global Protect VPN Client Connection

The Dominican University VPN (virtual private network) allows approved faculty, staff and Students to securely access our intranet while off campus. VPN is ONLY REQUIRED for accessing the following: 

  • J1(Jenzabar)
  • network and shared drives ("N:\", "H:\", etc..)
  • Remote Application servers (CISTS, ACATS2019/RemoteApp)
  • Remote Desktop Connection to on-campus device.

Dominican University VPN

Step 1: VPN Permissions (required for first time setup only)

To request VPN access for the first time, complete the Request VPN Access Form. Once the Support Center has confirmed and completed your access, follow the instructions below to setup and log in.

Step 2: VPN client installation (required for first time setup only)

You must have one of the following VPN clients installed on your computer for the remote VPN connection. There are different VPN client options for Windows or Mac OS. **Please note that the SonicWall VPN client is no longer used or needed. SonicWall client may be uninstalled from your computer if previously installed. The new required VPN client is Global Protect.

Please go to https://remoteaccess.dom.edu/global-protect/getsoftwarepage.esp and select the option for operating system installed on your device. Once you have clicked on it, the download will appear in your downloads folder for you to install.

On installation, it is highly recommended that you have administrator rights on the computer. If the computer is owned by Dominican University and you are unable to install the client, please contact the Support Center at (708) 524-6888.

  • For Mac: 
    • You may be prompted to allow the application in the privacy and security settings. Click "Allow".

Step 3: Logging into your VPN (Global Protect - Windows) connection

  • From your computer, launch the Global Protect VPN client, enter your information as pictured below (the portal address is remoteaccess.dom.edu). Click Connect to enter your username and password. 
  • Check the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smart phone to approve the MFA request and complete the VPN connection.
