License Assignments
To ensure users have access to the tools and services required for their role, Microsoft 365 licenses are assigned based on employment and enrollment status.
Microsoft 365 A5 License
The following users are assigned a Microsoft 365 A5 license:
- Full-Time Faculty
- Emeritus Faculty
- Full-Time Staff
- Enrolled Students
Microsoft 365 A1 License
The following users are assigned a Microsoft 365 A1 license:
- Adjunct Professors
- Admitted Students
What's the Difference Between A1 and A5?
Included with a Microsoft 365 A1 License
Users with an A1 license receive:
- Web-based versions of Microsoft Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Microsoft Teams
- OneDrive for Business
- SharePoint Online
- Microsoft Forms
- Basic collaboration and communication tools
Additional Features Available Only with Microsoft 365 A5
Users with an A5 license receive everything included in A1, plus:
- Desktop versions of Microsoft Office applications
- Advanced compliance and data governance tools
- Power BI Pro
- Advanced analytics and reporting
- Enhanced endpoint and device management
How do I know which license I have?
You can view your assigned Microsoft 365 license by:
- Signing in to https://portal.office.com
- Selecting View Account
- Navigating to Subscriptions
