How do I copy material from one Canvas course into another?

Canvas makes it easy to transfer some or all material from a previously-taught course into a new one. There is also the ability to adjust the due dates automatically. While the due date adjustment will not be 100% perfect, of course, it will still be easier than having to click through months and months of the calendar on each assignment to change them.

You can use this same process to transfer material from a current course into another one; for example, when two classes share some of the same files or assignments.

The procedure involves heading to your NEW course site (or destination course site) and importing material from the older or other course. Online documentation on this process is available directly from Canvas here: How do I copy content from another Canvas course using the Course Import tool?

In addition, we also have a PDF covering the steps that is attached to this article.

Important: Note that the import process will NOT import videos that you created from the Course Videos menu item created in Panopto, our video capture system.  The steps for doing that are covered in the attached PDF.
