How Do I View Student Videos from Respondus Monitor?

Respondus Monitor is a remote proctoring tool that records student activity during a Canvas-based online assessment. Below are instructions for faculty on how to access and review those recordings.

  1. Select Lockdown Browser from the Course Navigation Menu
  2. Unless you have opted to suppress it, you will next see the Respondus welcome screen. Click on button labeled "Continue to Lockdown Browser".
  3. You will now see the Lockdown Browser Dashboard which displays a list of all of your assessments that utilized the service. Note that the right-hand columns indicate which services (Lockdown Browser and/or Respondus Monitor) were used for a given assessment.
  4. To view the student recordings, first click on the drop-down icon immediately to the left of an assessment, and select "Class Results".
  5. You will now see a list of the students who have completed a given assessment. (Figure 5) By default, this list is ordered by review priority, based on flags that were raised during their exam. You can re-order the list by clicking on the title of a column, such as "Last [Name]" or "Date".
  6. Clicking on the "+" icon adjacent to a student's name will display a photo of the student, a summary of that student's activities during the assessment (flags, level of priority for review) and a set of thumbnail photos taken at various times during the assessment.
  7. Note that each of the thumbnails has a timestamp beneath it. Clicking on any of thumbnails will take you to that moment in the overall video recording.
  8. You can navigate through the video by either clicking on the thumbnails or using the slider that is beneath the video player.
